The American LaFrance Fire Engine Company was established in 1903 and saw production out of Elmira, New York as well as a Canadian plant in Toronto, Ontario. The International Fire Engine Company, a corporate predecessor of the American Lafrance built engines from 1903-1907. With origin of production dating back to 1832 across all body variants, manufacturing ran through until 2014 for this company. Featuring a body with full instrumentation, this piece of American History is highly collectible, extremely rare in working order and would make a sounds addition to any American vehicle collection.Īmerican LaFrance (ALF) was an American specialist vehicle manufacturer with production of fire engines, ambulance, rescue vehicles and fire aerials. An example that now replicates Engine 3 – Aviation Hose 3 Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) presents as one of the most immaculately restored models of a fully-optioned American LaFrance Century Series. Different engine variants were released as either a ‘Detroit Diesel’ offering 216-265 HP or the ‘Cummins’ offering 225 to 350HP.Īfter serving in Texas as Engine 50 (E-50) under the Mid-county Fire Department from 2001, the vehicle was then privately purchased and imported to Australia in 2011 by a Fire Engine Enthusiast in WA where this apparatus was re-furbished with an intention to provide fire rides for children with Cerebral Palsy. Released with the optional 4×2 Chassis, this high-powered Firetruck allowed for easy manoeuvrability and a centred gravity to the road. Believed to be 1 of 6 ALF vehicles in Australia currently, this example is a rarity.įeaturing a ‘Cummins’ 6-Cylinder Inline Diesel engine, this vehicle produced 224KW RPM paired to an ‘Allison MT653’ automatic transmission. The Century Series offered a new wider cab from its other models and still today represents the top end of the American La France line. In 1983 this example was assembled before making its way from Elmira, New York to Odessa, Texas to serve in the Odessa Fire Department until 2001 where it then saw service in Lockhart, Texas for the Mid County Fire Service Department. Presenting a 1983 complied restored example of a New York produced American La France Century. Served as E-50 for the Mid-County FD, Texas.
